A Women's Business Enterprise, also commonly known as a WBE, is basically an independent company concern which is at least 51% owned by one or more women that are U.S. or legal resident alien; whose primary place of operation and business ownership are on U.S. or its territories. Most often, these women are owners of franchises or partnership interests. An individual who is a member of an informal business network, or a "successor mother" as she is sometimes called, can qualify as a franchisee. There are many forms of franchise registrations, and each one has its own set of requirements. Enterprise certification. Often the Women's Business Enterprise certification is acquired by completing a course in which the student obtains both general business skills and specific skills relating to the field of women-owned businesses. However, additional work must be performed to meet the certification requirements.

When completing the education requirements to obtain Women's Business Enterprise certification, you will be required to take a written ethics, accounting and business skills examination, and business skills and knowledge examination. Upon passing the two examinations, you will be mailed the application for recertification. The application should be completed and signed by the student in order to process your certificate. Please be aware that most states require a valid business license or permit to obtain Women's Business Enterprise certification.

After receiving your recertification application, you will need to schedule an on-site visit with a certified Women's Business Enterprise coach. During your visit, you will be provided with detailed instructions on how to prepare for the examination and take it. You will be provided with access to the actual exams, and will be encouraged to ask any questions regarding your certification.

In order to get a Women's Business Enterprise certification, you must first achieve a minimum of five full-time credits in business or the study of business at an accredited university or vocational school. Once you have accomplished this, you can apply for recertification.
